Neoclassical folk art sideboard from northern Sweden. The sideboard is from the years between 1780 to 1790. Original paint. The model is straight with the classic neoclassical decor. Angled corners with ribbed decor. Healthy and solid frame. The latch on the door is original and it’s always been without a lock. The sideboard has a very good patina that can only be achieved naturally with time.

Looking at the paint it’s not one solid colour but rather a mix of multiple shades which in turn gives it great depth and dimension. That unique combination only exists on this sideboard and is a product of age where each new addition and old wear is authentic. While this is a neoclassical folk art sideboard it also has some rococo influences from the previous era. Note the curved edge along the bottom. Additionally the sideboard is usually low at only one meter in height and also wider than you’d typically see.
