Northern Swedish gustavian sofa and a classic example of antique Swedish country house furniture. The sofa is pine and dry scraped to the original first layer of paint. The hand-made decor on both the front, backrest and armrests is very detailed and meticulously carved. In everyday speech, the model is often called Solsäng which directly translates to Sun-bed. Note the carved sun on the backrest.
Healthy and solid frame with storage underneath the seat. The seat itself is later and upholstered with a unique antique linen fabric from the mid 1800s which is produced and woven by hand – and it has never been used before. Because of that the fabric has a more organic and rustic look in comparison to modern machine woven fabrics.
