Antique rococo country cabinet made by hand in solid Swedish pine. The cabinet is an authentic antique country house furniture with traces of the original paint. The cabinet is from the province Jämtland in northern Sweden and made around the turn of the century, around 1790 to 1810. Made in two parts the cabinet has distressed original paint which lets the pine underneath shine through in places.
The cabinet has a tall and stately silhouette which is topped by a curved pediment and mouldings. The doors open to a charming interior which has also been decorated with floral patterns. It’s not often the interior has also been decorated. Original working lock and key. The frame of cabinet is healthy and solid. The door to the cabinet has shrunk a little from our modern dry air so there is a very small opening between the doors. The width is measured from the mouldings underneath the doors and upper drawers.
