Country home writing bureau in folk art from northern Sweden. The bureau is from around 1820 to 1830 and has a writing desk with interior drawers with brass drawer pulls. Underneath the writing desk are 3 large drawers which are in fully functional condition. They also have the original drawer pulls in brass.
The paint is the first layer of original paint and it’s a light paint. Something that was very unusual at the time. The interior paint is also original as well as an unusual colour. The table top is painted with a technique to make it look marbled.
The bureau is made in pine and is healthy and solid. A fun details is that there is newspaper in some of the drawers which are dated 1919. The height to the writing flap is 75.5 cm which is a good height to use as a desk for writing or for a computer.
