Rare rococo cabinet from Northern Sweden. The cabinet is from the time where rococo transitions into neoclassicism. Neoclassicism is what we in Sweden typically refer to as the gustavian era. Made during the late 18th century, sometime around 1770. Dry scraped to the original paint. The handles and hardware are both original and made from brass. The lock and key are original and in fully functional condition. The cabinet is in two pieces. The wood is healthy and the frame is solid. Take extra notice to the notches on the upmost shelf. They were made especially to hang the household’s fine silver spoons, something only the wealthiest households could afford.
