Rare untouched corner cabinet from Sweden in gustavian style. This antique corner cabinet is from Hälsingland in central Sweden. Made by hand in solid Swedish pine the cabinet has its original paint and is dated 1845. There is also a set of owner’s initials on the top of the door. As this is an untouched furniture that is 200 years old there are marks and traces of use where the cabinet has travelled through the centuries. But the frame is healthy and solid.
The upper cabinet has had the hinges replaced during the late 1800s. Similarly the lock has gone missing from the upper cabinet and been replaced with latches at the bottom of the doors, see pictures. The effect from the sun and light has cause the blue paint to shift between multiple tones of blue, creating the organic and authentic patina. The interior is bare wood and has never been painted. This is a large cabinet. The total height is circa 244 cm where the lower cabinet measures 97 cm tall. The short ends meant to face the walls are circa 94 cm deep. Straight across the corner the cabinet measures circa 140 cm.
