Unusual small rococo table from northern Sweden made around 1780 to 1790. The table is a country house furniture in painted pine with hand carved decor. The table is dry scraped by hand down to the original first layer of blue paint. At the time this table was made blue pigments were very expensive and only the most affluent households could commission furniture with blue paint. Very unusual and unmistakably an antique this rococo table has a lot of character in a small format. Perfect to make a large impact in a limited space.
The table has some distress and the patina of time after almost 250 years of use. Arched legs with hand carved wooden decor and carved feet. The shape of the table top is typically rococo with curved corners and additional details like the profiled edge. Healthy and stable frame. The table is steady and stable. There are some minor ink stains inside the drawer. A very typical feature in these furnitures as they were often used as desk and ink was a staple stationary.
